Our Boats
Sumatran Surfariis is proud to operate traditional Indonesian style boats that have been purpose-built for surfing charters. All our boats are large and spacious, offering lots of covered deck space, and come stocked with all the modern amenities. Onboard, you will find highly experienced guides, a few great fishermen, some fantastic chefs, and a team trained in first aid. You’ll be very comfortable and well taken care of by our crew who have extensive experience running trips in these waters.
Each boat is supported by two tenders that include a larger center-console speedboat and a smaller lightweight dinghy. The duel tenders allow us to travel and service multiple surf spots from the same anchorage. This guarantees that you get the maximum surf time and flexibility at each location, and also gives our photogs a chance to shoot footage while also escorting the guests to and from the lineups. For longer trips, we usually travel during the evenings and very early mornings, so no time is wasted. Usually, you awake as we are pulling up at the next surf spot. We will always use safe anchorages at night and continuously contact base camp via radio and satellite phones to check on weather conditions.
